Introduction to Socialization

During a puppy's first 16 weeks of life her temperament is forming. Anything that is happy or fearful during this time will remain happy or fearful for the rest of her life. It is VITAL that you show your pup that the world is a safe, fun and happy place. That noises won't hurt her, people aren't scary, different textures are good (concrete versus grass, for instance), objects are safe. Start introducing your puppy to the people, places, objects, noises, textures, and animals below working first inside your home. When your vet has completed all of your puppy's vaccinations and gives you the okay, then start to take your puppy out for field trips! Be sure to follow leash laws, please!
