Welcome to Week 60!

Your dog is responding well to coming when called. You've practiced consistently in your yard, even at the park, with very good success. So you wonder if it might be time that you can walk your dog without a leash. Is there ever a time that your dog will be 100% reliable without a leash? Find that answer in this week's Understanding Your Pet, "When is a Dog 100% Reliable Off Leash?"

Dog doors can be a great convenience for both you and your dog. You need to teach your dog both how to use the door, as well as using it for going outdoors to potty. To your dog it doesn't naturally follow that the dog door was installed so she will use it for bathroom breaks. Let's talk about how to teach your dog to use the door, and then how to extend that learning to using the door for eliminating in this week's Training For Success column, "The Ins and Outs of Dog Doors."

The problem with porcupines is those darn quills and your curious dog can easily become a porcupine pincushion! These nasty quills, left untouched, will work themselves into and move through your dog's body, so it's vital to remove them. Better yet, prevent your dog from getting too close to a porcupine. We explore "The Problem With Porcupines" in this week's Perfect Pet column.

We hope you enjoy your Week Sixty issue of MyPetTrainer.com. We are delighted to have been a vital part of your dog's learning for the past 15 months.
